COURSE OVERVIEW

Fire safety is everyone’s responsibility, and knowing how to respond can make all the difference. Launched in 2026 and endorsed by the OHS Registry, this practical and engaging course prepares learners to recognize, respond to, and safely manage small workplace fires. Learners explore how fires start and behave, including the fire triangle and lifecycle of a fire, and gain a clear understanding of fire classes and extinguisher types. The course also covers OSHA fire safety legislation, worker rights, and employer responsibilities. Participants will learn when it is safe to fight a fire, when it is not, and how to use a fire extinguisher effectively using the PASS method. Simple inspection and care practices are also introduced to help ensure extinguishers are ready when needed. This course can be used as a standalone, or part of a blended learning solution.
