The Fall Protection & Prevention training course is designed to provide management, supervisors and workers with the:
- knowledge of recognizing the hazards and risks associated with working at heights
- understanding of requirements and general safety practices for working safely at heights
- knowledge of safety and the personal protective equipment to be used when working at heights.
The Hierarchy of Fall Protection is the preferred order of control to eliminate/reduce fall hazards. The hierarchy is a ranked or graded series of fall protection solutions ranging in order, these solutions are:
- Hazard Elimination, (Change in Procedure),
- Passive Fall Protection (Barriers & Guardrails),
- Active Fall Protection, (Fall & Travel Restraint)
- Active Fall Protection, (Fall Arrest System) and
- Administrative Controls (Work Procedures).
Fall Protection and Prevention training is intended to prepare workers who are exposed to the hazards of falling from heights with the theory and practical knowledge to be able to:

- describe effective fall protection, and where fall protection safe work procedures are required,
- describe various hazards and know how to handle hazards hat are identified,
- understand the hierarchy of choices and how conditions of the workplace affect the choice of fall protection,
- if something goes wrong, you will understand how to prevent prolonged suspension in a post fall protection device and you will understand the procedures to effect a rescue.
The complete course can be delivered in a 6:30 hour content format (inclusive of written exam) with a 60 minute lunch and two 15 minute nutrition breaks over an 8:00 hour day.
